There were only four cricketers in the cricket history ever to hit six sixes in an over.They are:-

1. 

   Garry Sobers

   Garry Sobers of West Indies in 1968 was the first batsman ever to hit  six sixes in an over in a first class cricket.He smashed five clean sixes and one six where the ball was caught by Roger Davis but carried over the rope.Sobers was playing as captain of Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan in Swansea; the unfortunate bowler was Malcolm Nash.The previous record of maximum runs in an over was 34 runs and it was taken by Ted Alletson.This record was broken by Garry Sobers by a tally of 36 runs by hitting six sixes in the consecutive six deliveries.

2. 

   Ravi Shasthri

   In 1984-85 Ravi Shasthri equalled the record by hitting six sixes in an over in the first class cricket.He was playing for Bombay against Baroda in a West zone Ranji Match.He smashed the six sixes in an over of the left-arm spinner Tilak Raj.

3. 

   Herschelle Gibbs

   Herschelle Gibbs from South Africa is the first batsman to hit six sixes in an over in a One Day International (ODI) and that too in the 2007 cricket World Cup.The unfortunate bowler was Daan van Bunge of Netherlands.By hitting six sixes in that match he raised US$1 million for the Habitat for Humanity housing projects.It was actually a contest run by tournament sponsor Johnnie Walker.

4. 

   Yuvraj Singh

   Yuvraj Singh of India is the fourth batsman to hit six sixes in an over.He smashed six sixes on 19 September 2007 in the opening T20 World Cup tournament against England.The bowler who became his victim is Stuart Broad.Yuvraj Singh received Rs.10,000,000 (US$252,716) in cash from the BCCI because of this excellent performance.He was also awarded a Porsche 911 from the BCCI vice president Lalit Modi.

Michael Vaughan confirms at a press conference that he has retired from the international cricket.He departs from the international cricket as the most successful test captain of all time with 26 wins from 51 matches.He was actually disappointed since he was not included in the ashes 2009 because of his inconsistent performance in the England county cricket.

His greatest achievements includes:-

1. England won their first Ashes victory against Australia for 18 years in 2005
2. A first Test series win in South Africa for forty years in 2005
3. Eight consecutive test wins in 2004

As a batsman Vaughan scored 18 test hundreds.He was ranked as the world number one batsman after the 2002-03 ashes held in Australia in which he made 633 runs that includes three centuries.

Barack Obama and Brian Lara

The American President Barack Obama was in Trinidad for the fifth summit of the Americas and happened to meet the legendary cricketer Brian Lara.They both met at the newly re-named Obama Terrace,Hilton Trinidad, St Ann’s, on April 26th.

They both had a nice time together and both posed for the shutterbugs.Brian Lara gave some batting techniques to Obama which led to some nice moments also for the spectators.

Sabina Park Cricket stadium

Sabina Park is called as the home of Kingston cricket club and this is the only test cricket ground in Kingston,Jamaica.

This ground holds the record of the 1st triple century in the history of cricket by England’s Andy Sandham (325 runs) against West Indies in the year 1930.Garry Sobers in this ground scored 365 not out which stood as a test record for over 36 years.

Sabina Park borders Blue Mountains and Kingston Harbour to the north and south respectively.The 1st test and the 1st ODI in this ground was played in 1929 and 1983 respectively.

Andre Nel's Retirement

South African fast bowler Andre Nel made a quick retirement from the international cricket on March 25th after an eight year career in the South African team during which he took more than 100 wickets in both ODI and Test cricket.

Andre nel took 123 wickets in 36 tests for South Africa at an average of 31.86.He told to the media that he is retiring from the international cricket with a heavy heart.He also added that playing for his country was a dream come true.

Andre Nel made his ODI debut against West Indies in the year 2001 and test debut against Zimbabwe four months later.He played his last international matches (both ODI and test) for South Africa against England in the last year.

Andre nel played 79 ODIs including the 2007 world cup and took 106 wickets at an average of 27.68 with an economy rate of 4.63.He once took 5 wickets in an innings and he took 4 wickets in an innings three times.There are also 381 first class wickets in his credit.

Andre Nel has now signed to play for Surrey in the English County Season
