Lalit Modi is looking at taking the IPL to untapped markets like the USA

Lalit Modi,the IPL Commissioner had hinted that there may be two IPL T20 tournaments a year.One in India and the other short tournament to be held abroad.

IPL 2009 in South Africa is a huge success and Modi was encouraged by the fans in South Africa which made him to think about a second Twenty-20 tournament in a year to be held overseas.The IPL 2009 was actually forced to change the venue from India to South Africa due to security reasons but it took the tournament to a new level which was tremendous,Modi told the Daily Telegraph.

The ICC advised the cricket officials to start an IPL style T20 league in USA which Lalit Modi considers as a potential host.Modi said that apart from watching great cricket the Americans will have a good outing.He also added that success in South Africa gave us the feeling that the T20 tournament can be conducted anywhere in the world.

Already there are great demands to host the coming IPL tournaments in the venues like England,South Africa and Australia with also including the foreign players.

Adam Gilchrist won the toss and he elected to field first which was a very good decision since the pace bowler of the IPL Hyderabad Ryan Harris took the wickets of the openers of IPL Delhi,Gautham Ghambir and warner in the very first over.But the captain of the dare devils Virender Sehwag and Dilshan recovered nicely and put up a third wicket partnership of 85 runs from just 59 deliveries.

Dilshan is the star of the IPL Delhi who took 65 runs from just 51 deliveries which includes 7 fours and 1 six.The IPL Delhi Daredevils put up a decent total of 153 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

In response to this it was a one man show by the skipper of IPL Hyderabad Adam Gilchrist who opened the scorecard by hitting fours of the Delhi’s pacer Dirk Nannes.Gilchrist smashed 5 consecutive fours in  the very first over of Nannes.He scored the fastest fifty ever in the IPL in which he reached half century in just 17 balls.He scored 85 runs off 35 balls and he was out in the last delivery before the tactical time out by Amit Mishra.

When Gilly was got out,his team was in a very good position in which they scored 102 runs in 10 overs.Then another Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds came out to the middle and scored some massive shots of the pacer Nannes.At last it was an easy victory for chargers for 6 wickets.

IPL Bangalore won against the IPL Delhi with one more over to spare so they have got more net run rate (NRR) of -0.25 than the Yuvraj Singh led IPL Punjab of -0.42.IPL Punjab is now in the 5th position so they desperately need a win against M S Dhoni led IPL Chennai while chennai also needed a win to ensure a semi final position.

Praveen kumar took the crucial wickets of Virender Sehwag and Mithun Manhas in the very first over of the innings which itself drifted the game in favour of the IPL Bangalore.

Kumble said that Praveen’s tremendous spell had done it for their team.Kumble also didn’t forget to say about kallis that he had performed brilliantly both with the bat and ball which had done it for the IPL Bangalore.

Ross Taylor’s quick quarter century from just a dozen balls including three sixes and one four led an easy victory for the IPL Bangalore while Rahul Dravid gave a good company for Jacques Kallis in which they built a good 2nd wicket partnership for the team.

Warne's D-Day in the IPL 2009

Today’s match between IPL Rajasthan and IPL Kolkata will be the crucial game for the Shane Warne led Rajasthan since they will be out from the IPL tournament if they lose today.

The main problem for the IPL Rajasthan is that they were struggling all through the IPL tournament to chase the total put by the opposition.They have only won one game in this tournament by chasing the total against IPL Delhi with the help of an excellent knock by Yousuf Pathan.

McCullum led IPl Kolkata will be taking on IPL Rajasthan today with lots of confidence that they have got by beating M S Dhoni led IPL Chennai.They will be trying to bag one more win before they go home.Eventhough IPL Kolkata won only one complete game in this IPL,it was a tremendous victory by the best chase ever in this IPL.

Brendon McCullum's forgettable IPL just got worse

McCullum was severely rebuked by the match referee for showing dissent against the decision of the umpires.It was a very close match between IPL Kolkatta and IPL Hyderabad in which Rohith Sharma took the game completely away from the hands of IPL Kolkata.

IPL kolkata took 160 runs in 20 overs and IPL Hyderabad was in the edge of losing the game in which they needed 33 runs from just 18 deliveries.But in the last over the leg-umpire called a no-ball because the kolkata’s infield had only three fielders.

This decision by the umpire made McCullum to argue with the umpire for a long time.This was considered as a bad conduct by the match referee and was reprimanded.McCullum had also apologized for the post-match presentation for arguing with the umpires.IPL Kolkata lost the game by 6 wickets.

Dilshan was got out in the 17th over by Botha but Dinesh Karthik came with a bang who took 23 runs from just 11 balls including 1 six and 1 four.IPL Delhi completed their innings by taking 150 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs.

In response to this IPL Rajasthan was struggling from the starting of their innings itself.They lost the quick wickets of Rob Quiney,Graeme Smith and Naman Ojha The best partnership of the IPL Rajasthan came from Johan Botha and Ravindra Jadeja in which they took 55 runs from just 36 deliveries.

IPL Rajasthan were only able to take 136 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.The dangerous Yousuf Pathan of IPL Rajasthan was got out early by Mahroof who took only 1 run by facing 5 deliveries.
