Cricket is now the most popular game in India eventhough cricket is not the national game of india.BCCI (Board of Control Of Cricket In India) as the name suggests is the regulating body of cricket in India which is also the richest cricket board in the world.Cricket in India has got rich history.There are lots of cricket tournaments in India.
- Ranji Trophy is the most popular cricket trophy in India which is regarded as the Cricket Championship of India started by BCCI in july 1934.There are each teams in each state of India in a Ranji Trophy and this is the cricket trophy which is regarded as the entry ticket to the Indian team.
- Irani Trophy was started in the year 1959-60 which was initiated as a mark of 25 years of Ranji Trophy and named after Z.R Irani who was connected to the BCCI
- Duleep Trophy was started as a first class competition by the BCCI in the year 1961-62 with a target to increase the competition in the domestic cricket
- Deodhar Trophy was started in the year 1973-74 by the BCCI which consists of five zonal teams-North Zone,South Zone,East Zone,West Zone and Central Zone.
- Challenger Series was started in the year 1998-99 by the BCCI which consists of 3 teams viz India Senior,India A and India B
- Inter-state Twenty-20 championship was started by the BCCI in the year 2006
- Indian Cricket League (ICL) was started by the ZEE TV (A Channel In India) in October 2007 which is a Twenty-20 game
- As a competition to the ICL BCCI started another Twenty-20 tournament namely IPL (Indian Premier League).
Vijay Hazare Trophy,Mohammed Ali Trophy,Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy,All-India Moin-ud Dowla Gold Cup are the other famous cricket tournaments in India.
