A drive is a straight batted shot in cricket played by swinging the bat in a vertical arc through the line of the ball.Depending upon the direction of the ball driven the drive shots can be classified into

  1. Square Drive:-Struck towards Point
  2. Cover Drive:-Driven towards the cover fielding position
  3. Off Drive:-Hit towards mid-off
  4. On drive:-Struck towards wide mid-on and mid wicket
  5. Straight Drive:-Driven past the bowler

Depending upon the pitching of the delivery and the foot work, the drive shot can be classified to front-foot drive and back-foot drive.
