A cut is a cross-batted shot in cricket usually played at a short-pitched ball, placing it wide on the off-side.There are two type of cut shots namely square cut and late cut shots.A cut shot is usually played off the back foot but sometimes it is played off the front foot against slow or spin bowlers

Tips to play a cut shot
A cut shot is an attacking shot and it is said to be a boundary hitting shot.A square cut is normally played when the bowler bowls a shot pitched delivery wide of the off-stumps.The three important points that you have to remember to play a square cut shot is (1) Positioning of the foot(2)correct contact with the ball(3)follow through after the shot is played

perfect foot positioning is the key to play every shots.To play a square cut shot the foot should be placed across the off-stump.The bat is taken above the back shoulder.These all will give a perfect position to play the shot.

The strike should be made with a downward blow with the full extension of the arms.
Follow Through
The bat should follow through over the front shoulder. The head should remain still, with the weight still on the back foot. This will enable the batsmen to remain balanced, producing a well timed, powerful cut shot.
Tips to play a late cut shot
Late cut is usually played with the same foot positioning as that of the square cut but then it is played by just guiding the ball towards the third man for a single.
