Adam Gilchrist en route to his fifty, Delhi Daredevils v Deccan Chargers, IPL, 1st semi-final, Centurion, May 22, 2009
Adam Gilchrist won the toss and he elected to field first which was a very good decision since the pace bowler of the IPL Hyderabad Ryan Harris took the wickets of the openers of IPL Delhi,Gautham Ghambir and warner in the very first over.But the captain of the dare devils Virender Sehwag and Dilshan recovered nicely and put up a third wicket partnership of 85 runs from just 59 deliveries.
Dilshan is the star of the IPL Delhi who took 65 runs from just 51 deliveries which includes 7 fours and 1 six.The IPL Delhi Daredevils put up a decent total of 153 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
In response to this it was a one man show by the skipper of IPL Hyderabad Adam Gilchrist who opened the scorecard by hitting fours of the Delhi’s pacer Dirk Nannes.Gilchrist smashed 5 consecutive fours inĀ the very first over of Nannes.He scored the fastest fifty ever in the IPL in which he reached half century in just 17 balls.He scored 85 runs off 35 balls and he was out in the last delivery before the tactical time out by Amit Mishra.
When Gilly was got out,his team was in a very good position in which they scored 102 runs in 10 overs.Then another Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds came out to the middle and scored some massive shots of the pacer Nannes.At last it was an easy victory for chargers for 6 wickets.
