Kumar Sangakkara has been named as the new Sri Lankan captain.The 31 year old Sangakkara is a left handed batsman and also the wicket keeper.kumar Sangakkara had made his test debut in the year 2000 against South Africa.He also played for warwickshire in 2007.
Sangakkara had been vice-captain since 2006.Mahela Jayawardene resigned from the post of captain soon after the Sri lankan tour of Pakistan which was discontinued when the Sri Lankan cricket team bus was attacked by a group of terrorists at Lahore on March 3.
Sangakkara’s first tournament as captain will be the ICC world Twenty-20 in England in june.The tournament will be conducted from 12-21 of the month,June.
