Security Concerns In Pakistan

Security concerns are not a new issue as far as Pakistan is concerned.There were a lot of cancellation of cricket tours in Pakistan due to security reasons.
- In September 2001 New Zealand cancelled their tour to Pakistan following the September 11 attacks in USA.In that same year West Indies and Australia decided to change their venues to Colombo and Sharjah which was scheduled to play in Pakistan
- In May 2002 followed by a bomb blast outside sheraton hotel in Karachi,New Zealand cancelled their tour to Pakistan
- In March 2008 Australia called off their tour of Pakistan due to security reasons after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in December 2007
- Referring to security,in August 2008 ICC decided not to send 5 out of 8 teams to Pakistan for the champions trophy which was scheduled for September the same year.The tournament is now postponed until October 2009.
- In October 2008 West Indies called off a tour to Pakistan citing security reasons
- In December 2008 BCCI called off India’s tour of Pakistan since the Indian government asked to do so due to security concerns
- February 2009-ICC decided not to conduct the Champions Trophy due to the very recent terror attack against Sri Lanka and also other countries are reluctant to play in Pakistan.
