Ricky ponting after a cover drive shot
The cover drive is a scoring cricket shot which as the name suggests, it is played between mid-off and cover.
Correct judgement is needed to play this shot since the ball is going to be slightly full of a good length.Misjudgement will cause you caught out.
From your normal batting stance lead with your shoulder towards the line of the ball and into the shot. This will help you to connect with the ball with much ease.
Step with your front foot towards the pitch of the delivery and bring your bat down and through the line of the delivery.Make sure that you keep your front elbow high and bat straight (not a crossed batted shot). Aim to place the ball between mid off and cover, maintaining a firm base and follow through the shot in a relaxed manner.
