Straight drive is played for a full length delivery pitching on middle or off stump.

Leaning forward

Lean in with the front shoulder, the left if you are a right-handed batsman and vice-versa, with your eyes on the ball.To play a straight drive the basic foot work is the extended front foot and a bent front knee. You have to raise the bat to get enough back swing to give yourself enough force when connecting with the cricket ball.

Position of the head

To play the straight drive to perfection your head must be level or ahead of the front knee, with the back foot raised up to the toes. The cricket bat is accelerated vertically.

Position of the bat

The bat must have to accelerate in a straight path pointing to the sky.

Follow Through

A high follow through ensures good contact has been made with the ball. The face of the cricket bat must be angled towards the ground which help to keep the ball down and also avoid being caught out.
